In principle

This website consists of fixed pages that are generated in advance and delivered unchanged. There is no database, there are no user accounts, and your behaviour is not tracked. No cookies are set. A cookie consent banner is therefore unnecessary.

Hosting and server log files

The website is hosted by STRATO AG, Otto-Ostrowski-Strasse 7, 10249 Berlin, Germany. The servers are located in Germany. When you open a page, the provider automatically processes technical data transmitted by your browser:

This data serves the secure and trouble-free operation of the site and is not merged with other sources. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (legitimate interest). A data processing agreement pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR is in place with STRATO.

Fonts

This website loads typefaces from Google Fonts (Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland). Your IP address is transmitted to Google in the process. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (legitimate interest in a consistent presentation). More information: policies.google.com/privacy

Films

The Motion page embeds films from Vimeo and YouTube. No connection to these providers is made before you click a film. At first you only see a preview image served from our own server. Only when you start a film is the player loaded and your IP address transmitted to the respective provider.

YouTube is embedded in extended privacy mode via youtube-nocookie.com. The legal basis for the request is the consent you give by clicking (Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR).

Getting in touch

The Contact page lists our e-mail address and phone number. There is no contact form. If you write or call, we process your details in order to handle your enquiry. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR (pre-contractual measures) or Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR. Your message stays in our mailbox until the matter is settled and no statutory retention periods apply.

PDF portfolio from selected photographs

On the gallery pages you can collect individual photographs and have a PDF portfolio made from them. What you should know:

Your selection is stored exclusively in your own browser (in what is called local storage, under the key bk-auswahl-v1). It does not leave your device and we cannot see it. You can remove it at any time using the "clear" button or by clearing your browser storage. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in a functioning website (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR).

The PDF is generated entirely on your device. The photographs are not transmitted to us or to any third party.

Your details. Before downloading we ask for your e-mail address. Name, company and a short message are optional. These details are sent to us by e-mail together with the number and file names of the selected photographs, the page you were on and the time, so that we can place your enquiry and contact you if you are interested. No database is created; the details reside solely in our mailbox.

Occasional messages. By ticking the box you also consent to us sending you news about our work from time to time. This happens rarely to never and is done by us alone; no mailing service provider is involved and your reading behaviour is not analysed.

The legal basis for both is your consent (Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR), given by ticking the box and revocable at any time with effect for the future — a short message to the address above is enough. For handling a specific enquiry we additionally rely on Art. 6 (1) (b) and (f) GDPR. We delete your details as soon as the matter is settled or you object, unless statutory retention periods apply.

Protection against misuse. To prevent automated bulk submissions, an irreversible check value derived from your IP address is stored on the server for at most one hour when you submit. The IP address itself is not stored. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in protection against misuse (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR).

External links

The website links to Instagram, LinkedIn and our shop at Shopify. These links open in a new window. They are plain references: as long as you do not click, no connection to these providers is established and no data is transmitted. The privacy notices of the destination sites apply to any processing there.

Transfers to third countries

Loading the fonts and playing a film may involve transfers of data to the United States. Such transfers are based on the European Commission's adequacy decision for the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or on standard contractual clauses (Art. 45 and Art. 46 (2) (c) GDPR).

Your rights

You have the following rights regarding your personal data:

Right to lodge a complaint

You have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. The competent authority is the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information of Baden-Württemberg, Lautenschlagerstrasse 20, 70173 Stuttgart, Germany.

Retention

We store personal data only for as long as is necessary for the respective purposes or as long as statutory retention obligations apply. The data is then deleted or anonymised.

Security

The website is delivered exclusively over an encrypted connection (HTTPS). We take technical and organisational measures to protect your data against loss, destruction, manipulation and unauthorised access, and improve them continuously.
